A message from the creator of Controlled Chaos
Thank you, thank you, thank you! From the bottom of my heart to the top of my curly head, thank you for showing so much love and support for this curl product and my company!
If you didn’t see us on Shark Tank a year ago, you may not know that the show helped save the company, but it is you—our feverish fans—who deserve the credit. Your continued support of our socially conscious, women-owned and operated company has allowed us to grow so much in the past year. You also may not know that you're doing great things with every purchase. Controlled Chaos is a member of 1% for the Planet, so you’re helping clean up the environment each time you use it!
As an entrepreneur, I’ve been on a rollercoaster of experiences and emotions over the past seven years since I started creating the line. I’ve been through excitement, disappointment, success, failure and complete reinvention—to name a few. I want to personally thank each and every one of you (and your precious shiny, bouncy, frizz-free curls) for joining me, supporting my company and hanging on tight through the past year of extreme growth. Because of you, I am able to live my dream of creating confidence with every curl!
With love and gratitude,
Maureen Emerson and Alanna York
And a very SPECIAL thanks to...
Maureen for going along (with gusto) with every zany idea I've come up with since 2005, for being my emotional rock on the show, and for being an integral part of the company from the beginning.
The team at Head Games Salon for Hair & Body for churning out some incredible curly work for Controlled Chaos photoshoots, gaining tons of new curly clients since last year, and overall being an awesome group of people.
Erica for believing in me and investing in the company when we were nothing.
Jeni for working 20-hour days to prep for our Shark Tank airing and pioneering the complete reinvention of our brand.
Annie for her dedication to amazing customer service and account support, and for being a voice of reason amidst the chaos.
Shawn for being the company's first investor when we were even less than nothing.
Kate for believing in my creative vision, and for being an integral part of the company from the beginning.
Bea for helping with sales calls, packing and coming up with our fabulous new name, Controlled Chaos.
Chris for loving the product so much, not letting me quit when things were bleak, for investing so much time, energy and money over the last two years, and for his undying support that I probably don’t deserve.
My parents—and entire family—who have always been supportive and proud of me no matter what.
Gary and Tasha for hosting our Shark Tank premiere party a year ago, and everyone who attended—from high school friends to Head Games clients.
Jess and Sarah of PiperWai (who aired three weeks before us) for saving our butts with helpful advice before the "Shark Tank effect" hit us full-force.
Last but not least, to Lori Greiner and Barbara Corcoran for believing in me and making offers on the show. And to the producers, for being nicer than they could’ve been in the final editing!
